I think the whole concept is hilarious. Just 2 months ago there was a "Best friends day". Blah.

You dont need to wish me on some random day decided by some random dude so he could sell more greeting cards. And if you send me sms spam / email spam / facebook spam about some friendship day, I consider it very unfriendly and insensitive.

I disagree however. It may sound lame to celebrate a 'Mother's day' and the ones who criticize it say every day should be mother's day, but is it?
I find it a nice excuse to spread greetings and joy..
Just like yesterday was a nice excuse to say hello to a bunch of old school friends I had lost touch with..
Well, yes everyday should be 'mother's day'. Or if you want a system, consider every sunday as mother's day and wish mom.
There is no need for everyone to wish their moms on some specific day. That part I think is commercialisation.
I think friendship day is a reflection of what I call the "dehumanisation" of society due to commercialisation.
In theory, very correct.
In practice, very hard to do.
